Matty Cash spoke of his delight after Aston Villa booked their place in the fourth round of the FA Cup.
Cash’s 87th-minute strike proved the difference at the Riverside as Villa finally broke down Middlesbrough and earned a deserved 1-0 victory.
Ezri Konsa headed against a post while John McGinn, Nicolò Zaniolo and Álex Moreno all went close, with the latter also seeing penalty appeals waved away.
“Delighted to get the win,” Cash told VillaTV.
“It’s a really tough place to come, I think they’re in a good place.
“The main priority for us was to win the game and we’ve done that, so we’re delighted.”
He added: “The manager has made it clear that it might take time to get the win or get the goal.
“We left it late on and we got there in the end, but it’s part of football to break teams down and find the right time to do it.”

Victory saw Villa seal their spot in the fourth round for the first time since 2016 following seven consecutive exits at this stage of the world’s oldest domestic cup competition.
Unai Emery’s side have now suffered one defeat in their last 13 matches and just two in their last 20.
And Cash is happy to be in the hat for Monday night’s draw.
“Since I’ve been here, I haven’t progressed through to the next round,” he said.
“We made it clear before the game that we wanted to do that and we’re obviously delighted to get into the fourth round.”
