Introduction
In 2018, Aston Villa partnered with European Cup legend Ken McNaught to establish the Aston Villa Former Players Club. The club was formed to bring together former players under the official banner of Aston Villa and to establish a greater connection between Villa and our ex-players.
The Former Players Club has a crucial role in raising funds for the former players’ benevolent fund, which has been set up to provide support to players who may have fallen on hard times. Some players bear physical scars from giving their all in the claret-and-blue jersey, and the Former Players Club is committed to improving the lives of these heroes in any way possible. So, if you are a former player in need of support, or simply looking to get involved, we are here to help.
Aston Villa Former Players Club Benevolent Fund:
We are excited to announce that the Aston Villa Former Players Club is now a not-for-profit organisation, which means that we will be able to accept applications for benevolent assistance. To ensure that each application is given the attention it deserves, we have set up a Benevolent Fund committee. Chaired by Lord Austin of Dudley, the committee includes former players Tony Daley, Marisa Ewers, Brian Little, Kenny Swain and Shaun Teale, who will review all applications and ensure that each case is handled with care and consideration.
How the Fund Works:
The Aston Villa Former Players Club invites applications from former men's and women's players who have held a professional contract with AVFC and made at least one appearance for the first team. We believe that all former players who have represented our club at professional level deserve our support and assistance.

The Former Players Club is actively seeking event sponsors to collaborate with us and maximise funds generated from our events. This will provide a great opportunity to join forces with our Club Legends. One of our most beloved events, the Legends Tour series, has been a huge success with many former players showing fans around our impressive stadium. The Former Players Club is relatively new and is striving to establish itself while raising the necessary funds to support former players.
