Kerr Smith signed for Aston Villa in January 2022, linking up with the club’s Academy. The young Scotsman joined from Dundee United, who he had been at since the age of ten.

A versatile defender, Smith made his way through the youth ranks at Dundee before breaking into the senior side. He made his debut against Rangers in February 2021 and made 12 appearances before moving to the Midlands.

In January 2024, Smith headed back to Scotland to gain experience on loan at St Johnstone, and made a further nine appearances for the Villans in the Premier League 2 and Vertu Trophy in the 2024/25 campaign. 

Smith has also represented his country, making the first of nine appearances for Scotland's Under-19s in November 2021, before being called up to the Under-21s squad in October 2023.
