Dublin settles a thriller

Dublin settles a thriller

On this day in 2002, Dion Dublin’s late winner gave Villa a 3-2 victory over Everton in an exciting Premier League game at Villa Park.

Lee Hendrie opened the scoring in the seventh minute and when the midfielder added his second goal just after half-time, Graham Taylor’s side looked comfortable – only for the Merseysiders to draw level through Tomasx Radzinksi and Kevin Campbell.

But five minutes from the end, substitute Dublin – who had replaced Peter Crouch only four minutes earlier – hooked the ball past Richard Wright after Olof Mellberg had headed down Hendrie’s corner.
