Aston Villa registered an impressive 3-1 victory at Club Brugge in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League last 16 tie at Jan Breydelstadion.

With the encounter locked at 1-1 after Leon Bailey's early opener was cancelled out by Maxim De Cuyper, Villa struck twice late on courtesy of Brandon Mechele’s 82nd-minute own goal and Marco Asensio's penalty.

It capped another memorable European night for Unai Emery's side, who will now take a two-goal advantage into next Wednesday's second leg at Villa Park.
