Villa Park was a fortress for Aston Villa during the 2024/25 campaign, helping to secure European football for a third successive season.

Only one team left B6 with three Premier League points, Arsenal in our home opener, with Unai Emery’s men subsequently amassing a club record 18-game unbeaten run at home in the top flight.

They’ll look to add to that number when the 2025/26 campaign gets underway, with the new season once again full of promise for the Villans.

Here, we take a closer look at some of the Premier League matches you won’t want to miss at Villa Park…

The home opener against Newcastle

Aston Villa 4-1 Newcastle United

You have to go back to 2020 for the last time that Villa were at home on the opening weekend of the season – and fans weren’t even allowed in to see a 1-0 win over Sheffield United due to COVID restrictions.

So with that in mind, an electric atmosphere should be in store when Newcastle United visit for the lunchtime kick-off on the first Saturday of the season.

There have been 25 goals in our last six matches against the Magpies, with Emery’s men dishing out a 4-1 hammering in the corresponding fixture last term.

Revamped Cityzens come to town

Aston Villa 2-0 Manchester City

Villa have enjoyed our most recent home matches against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, producing standout performances to win 1-0 in 2023 and 2-1 in 2024.

And while the Cityzens will still feature the likes of Erling Haaland and Ballon d’Or winner Rodri, the club has been attempting to overhaul their squad after picking up a lone piece of silverware, the Community Shield, last season.

City turned a few heads at the Club World Cup before their exit, blending a host of new players into their team as they turn the page on a trophy-laden era, with summer signings Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders at the forefront.

December date with Red Devils

Unai Emery.

The final home league game of 2025 will see us take on Manchester United in the team’s last match before Christmas.

The Red Devils have proved to be our toughest opponents in the Premier League era, with just five wins coming Villa’s way from 60 clashes.

One of those quintet came on Emery’s Villa bow, a 3-1 success that kicked off his reign in the best possible way.

This season’s date with United promises to be another intriguing tie as they look to improve on a 15th-place finish last time around.

Under the lights versus Chelsea

Aston Villa 2-1 Chelsea

A night match played out under the glow of the Villa Park floodlights is always special.

And this encounter against the Blues will likely be an important one as the season builds to a climax from March onwards.

Villa staged a superb comeback to beat Chelsea with an 89th-minute winner on home turf last season, and there hasn’t been a goalless draw between the sides in the top flight since 2010.

Hosting the champions in the home finale

Aston Villa v Liverpool

Reigning Premier League champions Liverpool are slated to be the opponents for our final home match of the season when they come to town in May.

Villa gave Arne Slot’s team a great game in B6 last term, earning a 2-2 draw thanks to goals from Youri Tielemans and Ollie Watkins.

And while Emery’s men also battled back to draw 3-3 against a Jürgen Klopp-led Liverpool in our final home game of 2023/24, Villa will be hunting a first Villa Park victory against them since the stunning 7-2 success in 2020.
