Unai Emery's side contested seven matches across all competitions throughout the first month of 2025, opening the year unbeaten in domestic competitions, with just one defeat in the Champions League.
January began in B6, as goals from Ross Barkley and Leon Bailey sealed a 2-1 victory over Leicester City. Six days later, Villa Park came together to celebrate the club's 150th anniversary, as Emery's men marched into round four of the FA Cup, coming from behind to beat West Ham United 2-1 under the lights.

Next, Ollie Watkins' second-half strike sealed a 1-0 win on the road at Everton - Villa's third victory on the spin and fourth game unbeaten - before the England striker was again on the scoresheet at the Emirates Stadium three days later, earning his side a share of the spoils as they came from behind to secure a 2-2 draw against Arsenal, Youri Tielemans' header initially halving the deficit.
Champions League action brought about Villa's final two outings of the league phase. A trip to Monaco on Tuesday, January 21 saw the Villans leave on the end of a 1-0 defeat, still with work to do to qualify for the last 16.
Jacob Ramsey's early goal had put the hosts in front early on at Villa Park as the Hammers this time visited in Premier League action - Villa's final league outing of the month - but Emerson's second-half header saw the points split.

And Emery's charges ended the month on quite the high. Celtic visited Villa Park on matchday eight of the Champions League, with both sides still in with a shout of a top eight finish in the league phase.
Morgan Rogers' early double put Villa 2-0 to the good, before Adam Idah's brace levelled matters heading into half-time. Second-half strikes from Watkins and Rogers - the latter completing his hat-trick - handed the Villans all three points, with results elsewhere ensuring they would progress straight through to the round of 16, on another special European night under the lights.
