Emi Buendía and Leander Dendoncker were both on the scoresheet for their respective loan clubs over the weekend.

Argentinian Buendía, who joined Bayer Leverkusen for the remainder of the season in January, scored his second goal for the German outfit on Saturday in a 2-0 Bundesliga victory at home to Augsburg.

Dendoncker, meanwhile, having notched his first goal of the season in midweek during an emphatic 5-0 victory over Gent, bagged in back-to-back games on Sunday against the same opponent, sealing a 1-0 win on the road late on in the Belgian Pro League championship round.

With Leverkusen already a goal to the good as the first half entered stoppage time, Buendía picked up a loose clearance, cut inside and bent a superb effort into the far corner from 18 yards out to send his side in at the break two goals up.

Dendoncker, meanwhile, picked up Ali Maamar’s pass inside the area with the game goalless 14 minutes from time, turned his defender and curled a shot into the bottom corner to seal all three points for Anderlecht.

Elsewhere in Germany on Saturday, Kosta Nedeljković started and played 45 minutes of RB Leipzig’s 4-0 defeat at Eintracht Frankfurt, while in Belgium on Sunday, Kadan Young was an unused substitute for Royal Antwerp who drew 0-0 at Genk.

Saturday’s EFL action saw Joe Gauci and Josh Feeney face off against one another in League One, as Barnsley met Shrewsbury Town at Oakwell. It was the already-relegated visitors who prevailed 2-1 in South Yorkshire.

In the Championship, there was a start, 78 minutes and a clean sheet for Samuel Iling-Jr as play-off chasing Middlesbrough were held 0-0 at home to Norwich City, the England Under-21 international again deployed at left-back.

And at Deepdale, Kaine Kesler-Hayden completed 90 minutes as Preston North End fell 2-1 at home to Plymouth Argyle, meaning their relegation fight goes down to the final day of the season next weekend.

MK Dons were held to a goalless draw at home to Grimsby Town, with Tommi O’Reilly introduced for the final 14 minutes, while Kobei Moore played the final 11 for Fleetwood Town who won 2-0 at home to Newport County. Rico Richards was an unused substitute for Port Vale who sealed promotion to League One with a 2-0 win at AFC Wimbledon.

Sunday’s action elsewhere saw James Wright complete 90 minutes in goal for Real Unión in a 4-1 defeat at Gimnàstic, while Philippe Coutinho played 90 minutes as Vasco da Gama lost 1-0 at Cruzeiro. Àlex Moreno was an unused substitute for Nottingham Forest at Wembley, who were beaten 2-0 by Manchester City in their FA Cup semi-final clash.
