Aston Villa will take a two-goal deficit to Olympiacos for the second leg of their UEFA Europa Conference League semi-final following a 4-2 defeat at Villa Park.

The visitors opened up a two-goal advantage inside the opening half an hour courtesy of strikes from Ayoub El Kaabi, before Ollie Watkins reduced the deficit on the stroke of half-time.

Moussa Diaby restored parity early in the second half to send the home faithful wild, but the joy was short lived as El Kaabi completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot in the 56th minute.

Santiago Hezze’s long-range effort deflected off the back of an unfortunate Ezri Konsa to make it 4-2 to the Greek visitors, while Douglas Luiz sent a late spot-kick against the outside of a post as Olympiacos claimed a two-goal triumph in the first leg.
