Emi Martínez has been shortlisted for the 2023 FIFPRO World 11.
Aston Villa’s No.1 enjoyed a stellar year between the sticks for club and country and is one of three goalkeepers among the 23 nominees.
The FIFPRO World 11 is voted for by over 28,000 professional footballers, receiving votes from their peers for their performances from 19 December 2022 to 20 August 2023.
The goalkeeper, three defenders, three midfielders and three forwards who receive the most votes will be selected for the World 11. The final spot will be assigned to the remaining outfield player with the next highest number of votes.
Martínez is up against Manchester City’s Ederson and Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois for a place in the World 11.
The World 11 will be announced on Monday, January 15 at The Best FIFA Football Awards in London.
