Tyrone Mings was proud of his Aston Villa teammates, after Unai Emery’s side returned to winning ways with a 3-1 triumph over Brentford.
Villa controlled the encounter on home soil, taking a 3-0 lead into the break thanks to goals from Morgan Rogers, Ollie Watkins and Matty Cash.
The defender, named Player of the Match by Amazon Prime Video Sport on his first Premier League start since the opening day of the 2023/24 campaign, was pleased with the control the Villans demonstrated across the field.

He said: “The most important thing tonight was a good team performance. Sometimes, you can’t always control the result.
“The most important thing was to feel confident together, feel the backing of the fans, which we did, make Villa Park a tough place to come, and I think we can be very proud of the effort.
“There’s much more that we could’ve done in terms of controlling the game and maybe being a bit more in control on the ball, but it was about a win tonight, and we can be very proud of that.”
The only dampener on a successful night in B6 was surrendering a clean sheet courtesy of Mikkel Damsgaard’s second-half response for the Bees.
Mings couldn’t hide his frustration at having conceded, but takes positives from the fact Villa still have areas in which they can improve.

“I’m absolutely fuming that we didn’t keep a clean sheet, because I felt we were in control, and I think that’s something that’s [been] missing,” the 31-year-old added.
“We are sometimes feeling comfortable without the ball, and I think that’s just as important as feeling comfortable with the ball.
“We all knew as a team tonight, that keeping a clean sheet was a way to start feeling comfortable again.
“There are definitely things we can improve on, but the effort from the team tonight was absolutely fantastic and we have to keep working.
“The league is relentless, the teams we are playing against are of a very high standard, so we have to keep being positive - as the most important thing.
“The fact we sent the fans home tonight with a win and a positive feeling around the place was important.”
