Aston Villa were soundly beaten by Brighton & Hove Albion in the Under-18 Premier League.

The Seagulls hit the front after three minutes when Nehemiah Oriola beat Alex Hammond from close range.

Joe Belmont gave the visitors a 2-0 half-time lead before Ronnie Gorman notched their third shortly after the break.

A trio of strikes in the final ten minutes – a brace from Tyler Silsby and one from Shane Nti – saw Brighton run out comfortable winners.

Villa fell behind in the opening minutes of the contest at Bodymoor Heath when Oriola shrugged off a defender and slotted past Hammond.

The visitors doubled their advantage just before the half hour mark via Belmont, who tapped home after Aidan West had sprung the offside trap and laid a pass across the face of goal.

There was a heavy slice of luck involved in Brighton’s third shortly after half-time as Gorman’s shot was deflected past Hammond by one of his defenders.

Substitute Silsby piled on the misery for Villa when he netted two goals in the space of four minutes.

The forward drilled a shot inside the far post for his first before tapping into an empty net after fine work from Sahil Bashir.

A sixth goal completed the scoring with four minutes to play when Nti blasted past Hammond.
