Rory Wilson’s brace helped Aston Villa secure a 3-1 victory at Norwich City in the Under-18 Premier League Cup on Saturday.

The in-form Young Lions are now unbeaten in four matches, claiming three wins in the process, but they had to come from behind again to claim reward.

Elliot Myles fired the Canaries ahead but Wilson responded just five minutes later, before the Villa frontman then bagged his second prior to the break to put the visitors ahead.

Charlie Pavey added a third midway through the second half as the Villans secured all three points in Norfolk, continuing their cup campaign on the right foot with two wins from two at the top of Group C.

The hosts took the lead in the 18th minute as Myles converted from close range following a move down Villa’s left channel.

But parity was restored shortly afterwards as Cole Brannigan fed Wilson with an inch-perfect throughball, he cut inside and applied a smart finish into the bottom corner.

Wilson was denied by Norwich goalkeeper Caleb Ansen shortly afterwards and then pulled a chance wide after the visitors dispossessed City in a dangerous area at the back.

Ansen made another fine stop to deny Trai-Varn Mulley but he was beaten three minutes before the interval as Wilson made no mistake having been found by Pavey.

Waylon Renecke sent a header narrowly over the crossbar in the second period as Norwich threatened to get back on level terms.

Jamaldeen Jimoh then fired over a good opening from 15 yards for the Young Lions as both sides threatened to strike next.

And it went the way of the visitors in the 67th minute as they won possession in a promising position, Wilson burst forward and fed Pavey, who finished well to add a third.

Villa threatened further reward but a mixture of wayward finishing and Ansen’s fine form ensured they were kept at bay as they moved on to six points in the Premier League Cup.
