Kirsty Hanson is set to serve a three-match suspension after an appeal to reduce her impending ban was unsuccessful.

Referee Rebecca Welch sent off the winger for a challenge on Manchester United's Hayley Ladd in the 74th minute of Sunday's season opener at Villa Park.

We did appeal the decision in the hope of Kirsty being available for selection sooner rather than later, but we were unsuccessful.

Hanson will now not be eligible for Villa's encounters with Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur this month.

The Scotland international shared her disappointment on social media this week.

See you back on the pitch soon, Kirsty!
