Rachel Corsie insisted character was shown by Aston Villa Women despite their opening day defeat to Manchester United at Villa Park.
Our newly-named club captain featured in front of a club-record attendance of 12,533 as a tight and tense contest came to life late on.
Rachel Daly picked up where she left off last season to put Carla Ward’s side ahead in the 77th minute, but the visitors responded through Lucía García and Rachel Williams – the latter in stoppage time – to take all three points.
The three goals in the contest were preceded by the dismissal of Kirsty Hanson, who was unfortunate to be shown a straight red card just two minutes before Daly’s opener.
Corsie couldn't hide her disappointment, however, when speaking to VillaTV post-match.

“It’s gutting," said our Scottish skipper.
"I think we were really good in a lot of aspects of the game. We knew they had a lot of quality on the ball so we had to limit the opportunities that we would give them.
"Being down to 10 players is really disappointing, then we showed the character that we have to get the goal but unfortunately we just couldn’t quite hold on.”
“We felt at points during the first half we were a little too passive. I think we could’ve got a little more pressure on the ball.
"Second half, we tried to do that and I think the game was little more even. I felt everything was going in the right direction. Disappointing.”
