Unai Emery has been shortlisted for the Premier League’s 2022/23 Manager of the Season award.

After taking up the position of Head Coach in October, the Spaniard has overseen a remarkable turnaround in fortunes for Aston Villa.

The club sat 16th in the Premier League table upon his arrival but quickly started to pick up points.

A 3-1 victory against Manchester United in Emery’s first game set the tone for his reign, and the team have continued to improve throughout the campaign.

Aston Villa played Tottenham Hotspur at Villa Park on Saturday.

An away day win at Everton in late February sparked a ten-game unbeaten run that lasted until the final day in April, propelling Villa into the fight for a top-seven finish.

The team’s fine form in April saw the 51-year-old named Premier League Manager of the Month, and a 2-1 success against Tottenham last time out means Villa are in contention for European football heading into the final two games.

Emery is up against Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta, Brighton and Hove Albion’s Roberto De Zerbi, Manchester City’s Pep Guardiola, Newcastle United’s Eddie Howe and Fulham’s Marco Silva for the award.

The winner will be announced on Tuesday, May 30.
