John McGinn was jubilant after Scotland continued their 100% record in Euro 2024 qualifying.

The midfielder won his 56th cap during a 2-0 win against Georgia at Hampden Park on Tuesday night.

Scotland were undeterred by a 90-minute delay for a waterlogged pitch as they made it four wins in a row in Group A.

“The motivation for us was four wins out of four,” McGinn said.

“It’s surreal for us to say as Scottish players but something’s changed in that dressing room and we’re certainly building something here. It’s exciting.

“We’re looking at the table now and starting to get really excited.

“We want to qualify – we’re very close now, which is exciting in itself. We’ll take one step at a time and not get carried away.”

Just seven minutes had been played when the sides were taken off the pitch due to torrential rain making conditions unplayable.

Scotland led 1-0 at that point and made sure of the three points with a second goal shortly after half-time.

McGinn was left to revel in the win after the game finished at 11:20pm.

He said: “It’s a huge win for us. We’re obviously delighted in there.

“It was a really, really strange night – something none of us have ever experienced. We dealt with it in the best way possible.

“Credit to the ground staff and everybody who got together. It was really important we got the game played, and, thankfully, we did.”
