Youri Tielemans put in a Man of the Match display as Aston Villa overcame Fulham in Orlando.

And the Belgian thought his new team did a lot of things right en route to picking up their first win of pre-season.

After the Premier League Summer Series clash, Tielemans shared his thoughts with VillaTV.

Youri Tielemans.

“It was a tough game,” he said.

“They play really good football. We tried to put our game in place and had some really good times in the game.

“We scored two goals and didn’t concede, so it’s really positive looking forward.

“Especially with the last game when we were 2-0 up and unfortunately gave it away and got a draw, it’s really important to move forward and win games.”

He added: “The whole team has been working really hard since day one.

“You can see the rewards today – we had some really good ball possession, some really good actions and I think we can do even better, which is really positive.”

Tielemans has fitted seamlessly into the team in his first two games since joining this summer.

And the 26-year-old has also been integrating himself into the squad off the pitch during Villa’s time in the USA.

He said: “It’s been really good.

“We’ve been to some good cities and had a chance to look around. It’s really good to be out here and with the team.

“For myself, being a new player with a new squad, it’s really positive.”
