Emi Martínez will contest the Men's Goalkeeper Award 2022 and a place in the FIFPRO Men’s World 11 at The Best FIFA Football Awards on Monday night.

The Aston Villa and Argentina goalkeeper has been shortlisted as one of three finalists for the prestigious honour at the ceremony in Paris.

Martínez is up against Yassine Bounou (Sevilla and Morocco) and Thibaut Courtois (Real Madrid and Belgium) for the goalkeeper award, which is voted for by national team coaches and captains as well as journalists and fans.

Martínez will discover on Monday night if he has been crowned as the world’s top No.1.

The Villa stopper is a key figure for the club and played a crucial role in Argentina's triumph at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, picking up the tournament's Golden Glove award in the process.

Five players were initially nominated for The Best FIFA Men’s Goalkeeper Award, with the three finalists selected from the shortlist earlier this month.

Martínez has also been shortlisted as one of 26 contenders for the FIFPRO Men’s World 11, which will be revealed at Monday's ceremony.

The current squad is comprised of the best 26 men’s players based on their performances between August 8, 2021 and December 18, 2022.

The final XI, which highlights the most outstanding footballers in the current game, is the only global player award voted for exclusively by professional players from around the world.

Martínez is up against Courtois and Alisson (Liverpool and Brazil).

Fans can show your support for the Villa No.1 and watch The Best FIFA Football Awards ceremony live from 8pm.

Good luck, Emi!
