Netherlands and England topped their respective groups at the FIFA Women’s World Cup on Tuesday.

In an action-packed day of action, the Oranje and the Lionesses put on displays of complete dominance as they secured their places in the knockout stages, which begin on Saturday.

Daphne van Domselaar and the Dutch kicked things off in the morning’s slate of fixtures, and our new number one was merely a spectator between the posts as her side ran out 7-0 winners over Vietnam.

Goals from Lieke Martens, Katja Snoeijs, Esmee Brugts (2), Jill Roord (2) and Danielle van de Donk saw the Netherlands edge out the United States to top Group E.

They will face either Italy, South Africa or Argentina in the round of 16 on Sunday morning.

England were next up and knew a point would see them secure top spot in Group D, but they were in no mood to run any risks.

Alessia Russo, Lauren Hemp, Lauren James (2) and Chloe Kelly and Rachel Daly all got on the scoresheet as they ran riot to beat China 6-1.

Rachel completed 90 minutes on the left-hand side and capped a fine afternoon's work with a thumping volley at the back post.

Jordan Nobbs watched from the bench and will be keen to get some minutes under her belt during the knockout stages of the tournament.

Sarina Wiegman’s squad will face Nigeria in the round of 16 on Monday morning.
