John McGinn captained Scotland to promotion to the top tier of the Nations League on Tuesday night.

A 0-0 draw against Ukraine in Krakow was enough to see them top Group B1, clinching a Euro 2024 play-off place in the process.

McGinn played the full 90 minutes for his country on his 51st cap.

While the Aston Villa captain savoured promotion, Ludwig Augustinsson and Robin Olsen were left to contemplate relegation with Sweden.

The duo both started as the Swedes drew 1-1 with Slovenia, a result that saw them finish bottom of their group and drop down to League C.

Emi Martínez and Leon Bailey went head-to-head in New Jersey as Argentina ran out 3-0 victors against Jamaica.

Both Villans played 90 minutes as Argentina extended their unbeaten run to 35 – two games off Italy’s world record – via a goal from Julian Alvarez and a Lionel Messi brace.

Jacob Ramsey.

Jacob Ramsey played 70 minutes for England Under-21s as they came from behind to beat Germany 3-1 in Sheffield.

Folarin Balogun, Conor Gallagher and Cole Palmer scored as the Young Lions roared back to take the spoils.
