Aston Villa got back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory over Derby County in Premier League 2 on Saturday.

The Young Lions were dominant to begin the game and quickly found themselves ahead after Chisom Afoka hit a lovely left-footed shot into the top corner.

Villa remained in control throughout and doubled their lead midway through the second half, Declan Frith firing home after dispossessing a defender.

Strong defending from the Young Lions prevented Derby from creating any real chances as Villa kept their clean sheet intact and claimed all three points away from home.

After controlling all the early proceedings, a deserved Villa breakthrough came in the 11th minute when 16-year-old Rory Wilson played in Afoka, who curled the ball into the top corner.

Wilson was close to getting himself on the scoresheet just minutes later, getting up well from a cross but heading narrowly wide.
Frankie Ealing.
Derby goalkeeper Alfie Roberts was then called into action twice to save strikes from Tommi O'Reilly as the Young Lions searched for a second.

Roberts then somehow got down to deny Wilson from point-blank range after Frankie Ealing played in a perfect cross.

Wilson again came close with a header as the first half drew to a close.
Arjan Raikhy
More good link-up play between Afoka and Wilson led to the first chance of the second half, with O'Reilly again coming close for the Young Lions.

Frith then provided an instant impact just one minute after coming off the bench, scoring Villa's second with a powerful strike from close range in the 63rd minute.
Seb Revan
Very few chances followed, with the Villa defence continuing to stifle any chance of a Derby comeback as the second half drew to a close.

Three points and a clean sheet were well deserved for the impressive Young Lions as they ran out 2-0 winners at Moor Farm.
