Aston Villa Women will play their second home game in seven days when Everton come to town this weekend.

The Toffees visit Poundland Bescot Stadium on Saturday, with kick-off set for 12:30pm.

Villa were riding the crest of a wave going into last weekend's game against West Ham United, having come through their opening three tests unscathed.

While a defeat to Paul Konchesky's side has put a slight dent into the encouraging start to the campaign, the performance left a lot to be pleased with.

Carla Ward and co. will be hoping that result will prove to be more of a blip than a trend.

Matchday Guide

Today’s visitors to Poundland Bescot Stadium are Everton.

The Toffees endured a tumultuous 2021/22 campaign which involved a mid-season management change and a 10th-place finish.

Everton have since appointed Brian Sørensen to right the ship on Merseyside, and early impressions have been positive.

A narrow defeat on the opening day against West Ham United has been followed up by a resounding derby-day win over Liverpool and a 1-0 success against Leicester City.

Villa brought in three former Toffees during the summer window in the form of Kenza Dali, Danielle Turner and Simone Magill.

The Last Meeting

Villa Women suffered a frustrating 1-0 loss to Everton at Poundland Bescot Stadium the last time these sides met.

Aurora Galli’s clinical second-half strike proved to be the difference during a match in which Villa spurned several golden opportunities.

Carla Ward confirmed during Thursday morning's press conference that Hannah Hampton remains out.

The goalkeeper was absent from our matchday squad for the visit of West Ham United, and the manager has since confirmed Hampton has suffered a head injury.

Ward said she will take the same squad of players into Saturday's game against Everton.

Long-term absentees Meaghan Sargeant, Remi Allen, Simone Magill and Ruesha Littlejohn are progressing well in their respective rehabiliation programmes.

The Boss

“The fans are coming out in their numbers, not just at Villa Park. The noise last weekend was unbelievable. They’ve been exceptional this season and the numbers are growing all the time."
