Carla Ward and Rachel Daly have picked up the Barclays WSL's Manager of the Month and Player of the Month awards, respectively.

The Villa duo have been recognised for Aston Villa Women’s flying start to the September, and the 2022/23 season.

Wins over Manchester City and Leicester City saw the pair nominated for the two aformentioned accolades, while Daly was also nominated for Goal of the Month.

For Ward, it was a case of déjà vu having been nominated for the same award this time last year.

Villa’s 21/22 campaign started with seven points from nine, although Ward was pipped to the award by Jonas Eidevall.

This time around, Ward prevailed over fellow competitors Eidevall (Arsenal) and Marc Skinner (Manchester United).

As for Daly, she has simply taken the league by storm following her return to England over the summer.

The Lioness marked her debut with two goals, including the winner, against Manchester City before converting from the penalty spot against the Foxes during our 2-0 win in the East Midlands.

In propelling us to a perfect start, Daly has been awarded Player of the Month while narrowly missing out on Goal of the Month.

Congratulations to Carla, Rachel and everyone at Aston Villa Women for an outstanding start!
