Matty Cash is keen to give Villa Park a winning send-off in the final home game of the 2021/22 season on Thursday night.

Aston Villa have won more Premier League matches (7) on their travels than they have in B6 this term (6), splitting their 44 points evenly between home and away fixtures.

And Cash is hoping that the Villans can reward the home support by recording a victory when Burnley visit.

“We need to get as many points as we can and have a good finish to the season,” he said.

“We need to push up as high as we can in the table because 14th is for us, as a squad, a team and a club, not good enough.

“At home, we’ve struggled in some games, and I don’t know why that is.

“We’ve got a big game at home on Thursday night, the final one at Villa Park, and we need to send it off in a positive manner.”

Cash added: “When we went there (Turf Moor) the other week it was really tough. It’s always a tough game against Burnley, they put everything on the line.

“It’s such an important game for them, they’re fighting for their lives, so I expect another tough game coming our way.”

On a personal level, the full-back’s second campaign in the top-flight has been a standout one, starting every league game thus far and winning the Supporters’ Player of the Season award.

Cash was thrilled to have picked up the accolade, and he believes Villa can kick on in the coming years.

He said: “It meant loads and I can’t thank everyone enough for voting.

“It means a lot to me and my family. It’s nice to be recognised for this season’s work. I’m really happy and I want to keep improving and doing my best for this club.”

He added: “I’ve come a long way in the space of a season.

“For me now, I just want to keep going and pushing onto the next level. I want to take this club as high up as we can in the league.

“With the ambition the club have got and the ambition I’ve got, there’s only one winner. Hopefully we can have a really successful season next year.”
