Lucas Digne spoke of his delight after Aston Villa’s impressive 3-1 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor.

Goals from Danny Ings, Emi Buendía and Ollie Watkins did the damage against the Clarets as the Villans secured a second successive Premier League victory, making it seven points from a possible nine on offer.

Yet left-back Digne, who claimed an assist for Villa’s second goal, admitted it was not quite a perfect afternoon in Lancashire after Maxwel Cornet bagged an injury-time consolation for the hosts – denying a third consecutive clean sheet and the club’s first league shut-out at Turf Moor since 1920.

Speaking to VillaTV, the France international said: “It would have been perfect if we had kept a clean sheet until the end.

“It’s a good win away against a tough team.

“They were playing for their relegation (survival), we knew it would be a tough game but I think we deserved to win.

“We showed our style and that was the most important.”

Reflecting on his assist and attacking intent, Digne added: "It's part of my job.

"The first thing is to defend well and after, if I can contribute to help the team in attack then I have to.

"I'm really happy."
