Aston Villa's Under-23s were beaten 3-0 by Wolves in Premier League 2 on Friday night.

Taylor Perry and Chem Campbell both found the net from range in the first half, before Harry Bistwistle applied a clinical finish after the break.

The home side took the lead inside the first two minutes, with Perry's curling free-kick perfectly placed to beat Oliwier Zych via the post.

Villa settled into their rhythm despite the early setback, with Finley Munroe and Travis Patterson working well together down the left-hand side.

They combined brilliantly to create an opportunity for Chisom Afoka on 18 minutes, but the forward poked his effort just wide at the back post.

Lee McLoughlin then had two decent chances for Wolves, firing just wide before missing his kick from Perry's low cross.

Despite Villa's improvement following the early goal, Wolves doubled their lead before half-time when Campbell curled one into the top corner after cutting inside on his right foot.

Hayden Lindley forced a save with a side-footed effort as Villa searched for a route back into the game at the start of the second half, but Wolves got their third 10 minutes after the interval when Birtwistle swept home.

Chances were few and far between from that moment, with Villa battling but ultimately unable to claw their way back into contention.

For Delaney's side, attention now turns to the visit of Stoke City to Villa Park at the start of April.
