Aston Villa successfully hosted our second ‘VillaWorks’ event earlier this week.

Villa Park welcomed almost 100 businesses from in and around Birmingham on Tuesday for the latest gathering of our new business networking group.

Founded with the purpose of building business relationships through Aston Villa, the group provides exciting opportunities to attend networking events for both existing and new regional and national companies.

The first event took place in January and was based on the concept of ‘new year, new you!’, focusing on the importance of looking after our physical and mental health and wellbeing.

Our second get-together saw three speakers in attendance.

"Great event with really interesting speakers”

Tosh Crompton

National Business Development Manager, Agnew Leasing

Firstly, Head of Villa Foundation Guy Rippon gave an insightful presentation unveiling the club’s ‘Claret, Blue & Green’ initiative, detailing how AVFC rank in Premier League sustainability and the long-term steps being taken to try and achieve net zero.

Our second speaker was John Reeves, Director of Event Cup Solutions, who operate the UK’s only carbon neutral reusable cup system.

John’s engaging presentation gave delegates an understanding of the partnership with AVFC as well as the benefits. By partnering with Event Cup Solutions, the club has seen a vast reduction in matchday litter and waste and it’s estimated that £20,000 of cup deposits will go back into the Foundation per season.

Finally, Regenerco CEO Nigel Price and Brand Ambassador Ian Taylor took to the stage to  discuss both the benefits of renewable energy and the carbon benefits of solar generation.

Purity Brewing Co were also present during the event, launching their new product ‘Point Five Every-Day Pale’ and discussing how Purity operate to produce sustainably brewed products.

“A great event and brilliant to meet lots of like-minded individuals”

Matthew Stringer

Operations Manager, National Resource Centre
