Dewain Sewell scored a stunning goal with three minutes remaining to rescue a draw for Aston Villa against Leicester City in the Under-18 Premier League on Tuesday.

When a loose ball broke to the striker 40 yards from goal, he struck a superb, finessed shot that caught the goalkeeper in no man’s land and nestled in the back of the net.

Sewell’s stunning goal cancelled out Jack Butterfill’s first half opener for the visitors.

The draw ended a run of two defeats for Villa, who stay 17th in the table ahead of a trip to Norwich City on Saturday.

Leicester’s Amani Richards spurned the first opening of the game, firing high and wide from a tight angle.

Brandon Cover blazed over when well placed in the box before Villa responded through the dangerous Sewell, who lashed a shot just wide of the post.

A spell of pressure from the Foxes led to the opener after 32 minutes when Butterfill got a faint flick on Joe Wormleighton’s inswinging cross.

Frankie Ealing and Chisom Afoka went for goal as the hosts looked to get back on level terms, but they were indebted to some last-ditch defending to keep the City at bay.

James Wright made a fine stop to deny Butterfill a second before Harvey Rhoades reacted superbly to thwart the follow-up with a sliding block.

Villa’s valiant defending eventually paid off after 87 minutes, with Sewell scoring a stunning long-range effort after Leicester had been caught in possession.
