Squad receive indigenous welcome in Townsville

Aston Villa received a fantastic indigenous greeting upon arrival in Townsville on Tuesday.

After journeying up from the Gold Coast, the squad were welcomed to the town by the Wulgurukaba Walkabouts who performed a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony.

Captains of local football clubs from Football Queensland then offered their greetings to the squad and wished them well for Wednesday’s match against Brisbane Roar.

Head coach Steven Gerrard presented the young players with a shirt signed by the whole squad and received an engraved glass plaque in return.
