Double sessions and plenty of hard work on the Club’s pre-season tour of Australia will serve Aston Villa well in the opinion of Danny Ings.
The squad are preparing for games against Leeds United and Brisbane Roar in the Queensland Champions Cup.
But looking beyond the tournament, Ings knows the hard yards put in at their Gold Coast training base will go a long way towards helping Villa achieve their aims during the 2022/23 season.

“For me personally, it’s huge. It really does give you the platform for the season, not just physically but also tactically and mentally,” Ings said.
“If you put the work in for however long the pre-season is, you give yourself the best chance going into the season.”
He added: “The demands are there, which is so important for the team.
“Going into the season, having that full block of work is huge for us tactically to get an understanding of the way they want to play and how they want us to be.
“To get the numbers on the board, physically, it will all come together. It’s been a good start so far.”

The striker knows exactly what it takes to be successful in the Premier League after racking up 170 games and 62 goals in the competition.
And Ings is feeling in a good place heading into his second season at Villa.
He said: “I feel really good. Before we joined back up, I was really looking forward to having a full pre-season.
“It’s huge for me to get that workload in. I looked after myself in the summer and did quite a bit of training – the same as everyone else.
“Everyone has come back looking really strong and fit. I’m really looking forward to the season.”
