Matchwinner Emi Buendía hailed a “massive” three points after Aston Villa’s 1-0 victory at Everton.
The Argentina international headed home the only goal of the game deep into first-half injury time to seal a Premier League double over the Toffees.
It was Villa’s first win in five matches in all competitions heading into what is now an extended break before facing Leeds United on February 9.
And Buendía was under no illusions about the size of the success, which came courtesy of his second goal of the season.
“It’s an incredible result for us, massive three points,” he told VillaTV.
“We came into a really difficult game because they are a strong team, just in a difficult situation.
“They changed their manager this week so we knew before the game it would be tough and I think we battled very, very well over the 90 minutes.”

Reflecting on his winner, a smiling Buendía added: “A header, as a small guy…
“We work on it at the training ground to try and have these chances.
“I had it against Manchester United, it was close last game, here it was in, so I can help the team. I’m really pleased.”
