The year 2021 will be one that Jacob Ramsey will always remember fondly.
The 20-year-old signed a new long-term contract with the club, scored his first Premier League goal, made his debut for England Under-21s and racked up 34 top-flight appearances during the calendar year.
Ramsey also ended 2021 having made four straight starts as he continues to establish himself as a key player for the club.
And the midfielder believes 2022 can be just as good, if not better.

He said: “This year’s been really good, but hopefully 2022 will be even better. I want to keep playing for Villa’s first team and be a main player for the team.
“I want to add more goals, assists and hopefully break into the England senior team.”
When asked to pick one highlight from 2021, he said: “It’s got to be my first Premier League goal away at Arsenal.
“Mixed emotions because we lost the game and no-one really remembers that goal. For me, it was a really special moment.”

Aston Villa’s new year begins against Brentford, a team that have settled into Premier League life with ease during the first half of the season.
Ramsey and his team-mates need no reminding of the Bees’ quality after a hard fought 1-1 draw at Villa Park in August, and he says they are prepared to meet them again.
“Brentford are another really good team with really good players. This season, everyone’s talking about how well they’ve done,” Ramsey said.
“It’s going to be a tough game – a lot of second balls. They’re a big, physical team, so we’ve got to be ready.”
