Player Focus: Jacob Ramsey
Starting the season at just £4.5m, Jacob Ramsey has become the go-to budget enabler for many FPL managers since Steven Gerrard’s appointment. However, Ramsey is far more than just a budget player.
Since Philippe Coutinho (£7.3m) arrived at Villa Park in Gameweek 22, Ramsey is top for expected goals (xG), expected assists (xA) and expected goal involvements (xGI) across the Villa team. Ramsey's three goals since Gameweek 22 is also a team-leading total.
When compared to midfielders in the game priced at £11.5m and under, Ramsey is joint-top for goals scored in the same period.
Additionally, over the course of the 2021/22 season, Ramsey has five goals, an assist and three double-digit hauls to his name. Only goalkeeper Emi Martínez (£5.5m) has more points than him.
Eight of his 25 goal attempts have come in the last five matches, four of which have been labelled as ‘Big Chances’ and Ramsey has scored three of those.
Since his first haul in Gameweek 17, the youngster is averaging a chance every 58.2 minutes in the Premier League. This is better than popular FPL options such as Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva (£7.3m) and Crystal Palace’s Conor Gallagher (£6.2m).
Ramsey is still owned by just 8.7% of the game, however his underlying stats make him more than an enabler. For managers wanting to invest in the Villa midfield for the upcoming Double Gameweek, Ramsey is a great option.
