Ezri Konsa cut a disappointed figure after Aston Villa opened their 2022/23 campaign with a 2-0 reverse at AFC Bournemouth.
Villa tasted defeat in their Premier League curtain raiser on the south coast, Jefferson Lerma firing the hosts ahead after just two minutes before Kieffer Moore added a late header.
And centre-back Konsa knows Villa need to improve.
“It wasn’t good enough,” he told VillaTV.
“We knew before the game they were a threat on set-pieces, they’ve got a lot of big lads and we knew that if we gave away cheap free-kicks, which we did, they’d be a threat.
“They scored two goals from set-pieces, we didn’t create enough chances
“As a collective, we need to go back and reflect on what we can do better.
“I felt we dominated the ball but that wasn’t enough at all.
“It’s disappointing, really disappointing.”
Steven Gerrard’s side will be working hard at Bodymoor Heath in the coming week to ensure they bounce back from the frustration at Vitality Stadium.
And Konsa is confident they can turn things around when they face Everton at Villa Park next Saturday.

“Next week, we’ll have all our fans behind us, which will give us that extra push against a good side,” he added.
“If we go back and work on what we need to work on from here then we’ll get a victory or something (positive) next week.”
