Aston Villa opened their 2022/23 Premier League campaign with a 2-0 defeat against AFC Bournemouth at Vitality Stadium.

Jefferson Lerma fired the newly-promoted hosts into the lead after just two minutes on the south coast yet, despite dominating large parts of proceedings, Villa could find no way through a resilient and well-organised Cherries outfit.

And it was Bournemouth who added a second in the 80th minute courtesy of Kieffer Moore's header.
