Ashley Young has underlined the strong desire among the Aston Villa camp to get back to winning ways against Norwich City this weekend.

Villa halted a run of four successive defeats with a solid point at Leicester City last Saturday, keeping a clean sheet to come away from King Power Stadium with reward to show for their efforts.

Steven Gerrard’s side are back on home soil this weekend against a Canaries side battling for their Premier League survival.

And Young has stressed the determination to pick up maximum points, agreeing that the point against the Foxes was a step in the right direction.

“Yeah, I think it was, after obviously losing the last four games,” he told VillaTV.

“Getting a tough point away is ideal to get ourselves back on the right way.

“When you’re losing so many games, it’s disappointing, it’s frustrating.

“I know the quality we’ve got in this squad as well.

“We want to get back to winning ways.

“We’ve put ourselves in a good place, training’s been good this week and I think we’re going into Saturday’s game ready to go and win.”

Young made his 200th start for Aston Villa in the draw against Leicester.

And the 36-year-old admits it was a proud moment for him in a claret and blue shirt.

“As an Aston Villa player, starting your 200th game for the club is a fantastic achievement,” he added.

“I’ve always said that as long as my legs can get be up and down the pitch, hopefully there’ll be plenty more of them.

“I was delighted to reach that milestone and long may it continue.”
