Following the launch of our official Aston Villa playlist on Spotify, we now present Villa Introducing – a playlist designed to champion new music from Villa fans across Birmingham every month.
Villa have a distinguished legion of musical fans.
Back in the 1970s, local boy Ozzy Osbourne and his legendary Black Sabbath bandmates were Villa mad.
In the 80s it was Brian Travers of UB40 who backed the claret and blue before Duran Duran, including Villa fan Roger Taylor, got in on the act with a massive charity concert at Villa Park in 1983, and world-renowned violinist Nigel Kennedy proudly wore the club's colours worldwide.
More recently, Phil Etheridge from the Twang, Martin Duffy from Primal Scream, DJ Nathan Dawe and indie heroes Editors have revealed themselves to be huge Villans, among many others, and we’re ready to unearth the next timeless claret and blue-loving band with our new playlist.

The playlist will be updated every month to host the very best in upcoming talent, so whether you’re a rock ‘n’ roll quartet or a DJ sculpting the best beats in Birmingham, we want to hear from you!
Villa Introducing will support Villa-loving local acts by giving you to chance to be the Villa Introducing Band of the Month, bringing with it a plethora of benefits including:
- Your song being at the top of the Villa Introducing playlist
- Your song being added to the official Aston Villa matchday playlist
- The band/artist being interviewed exclusively for SportPlaylists.com
- Opportunity to potentially feature on official Aston Villa content
The Villa Introducing playlist will be hosted alongside our matchday playlist on the official Aston Villa Spotify account, opening up new local acts to Spotify listeners across the country.
The official Aston Villa matchday playlist went live last year and has attracted over 1,600 fans to date, featuring timeless sounds from Neil Diamond, Jeff Beck, Black Sabbath and Broken Witt Rebels.
Wherever you are, you can show your support, replicate the build-up to kick-off on matchday at Villa Park and get behind the boys in claret and blue!
