Gameweek 12 was exactly what was needed for both Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers and Aston Villa fans alike.
Tyrone Mings (£4.9m) was the joint-top scoring player in the game in Gameweek, registering 15 points courtesy of his clean sheet, goal and all three bonus points.
Mings is currently owned by just 6.2% of FPL managers and therefore could be an excellent differential over the coming weeks.
Indeed, the underlying stats for Aston Villa assets look promising both in terms of defensive potential as well as attacking promise.
Matt Targett (£4.7m) is top for passes received across the Villa team, with his 371 just one ahead of Mings and Matty Cash (£5.1m) in third with 323. This trio also lead the way for touches with 681, 655 and 649 respectively. Between them, they have registered 24 attempts on goal so far this season.
Targett was also fourth for crosses in Gameweek 12 with six, of which four were successful and he ranked third for tackles, winning all seven. This underlying data explains why Targett registered an all-important bonus point.
In attack, forwards have been difficult slots to fill as many have either been injured or haven’t registered the underlying stats that FPL managers are looking for.
However, Ollie Watkins (£7.3m) has returned in four of the last six Gameweeks and is offering FPL managers some much-needed consistency in their forward lines.
Watkins is top for touches in the final third amongst forwards (136) over the last six matches, which is 13 more than second-placed Harry Kane (£12.2m).
Watkins has also received 80 passes in the final third over the last six Gameweeks, ranking second amongst forwards.
