Emi Martínez says Aston Villa are determined to get back to winning ways when they take on Southampton at St Mary’s on Friday night.
Four Premier League defeats in a row has been tough to take for the Argentinian, a run he has never before experienced in his career.
And ahead of the trip to the south coast, the 29-year-old says the squad are itching to end their disappointing run against Saints.

He said: “I haven’t been on the end of four defeats on the bounce, this is my first time.
“People are really positive here – we’re having breakfast altogether and no-one is blaming each other. The manager is giving positive vibes to everyone.
“We have a group chat with the boys and we said we will play Friday as a final. We will go to Southampton and get the three points.”
After six league games this season, Villa had 10 points on the board and were looking up after a famous away-day win at Old Trafford to end September.

And some of the team’s early-season performances give Martínez belief that the Villans can put a tough October behind them.
He said: “We beat Manchester United away, they were unbeaten, we played Everton, who were unbeaten, and beat them 3-0 at home. It shows that we’ve got a good team.
“We’ve been unlucky with injuries, international games. I had a tough month with my dad, going away with Argentina, playing three games and coming straight back into games.
“It was a tough month for everyone, but obviously no-one really sees that, they only see results. We’ve got three good games coming up and we want to get all nine points.”
