Conor Hourihane was on the losing side as Swansea City’s hopes of automatic promotion took a hit against Bristol City on Saturday.

Despite dominating possession, taking the lead and having 21 shots compared to Bristol’s nine, the Swans lost 3-1, with Hourihane being withdrawn after 80 minutes.

Defeat leaves the Welsh side four points adrift of second place with two games in hand.

Frédéric Guilbert made a fourth consecutive start for Strasbourg as they drew 1-1 with Lille in Ligue 1.

The full-back provided an assist for Ludovic Ajorque’s goal after 36 minutes, but they were pegged back by Jose Fonte’s header in the closing stages.

Ally Samatta was a second half substitute for Fenerbahce as they picked up an important 1-0 away win against Trabzonspor.

The striker replaced Mesut Ozil after 66 minutes and he was on the pitch to see Dimitrios Palkas bag the winner with 14 minutes to play.

Fenerbahce have now closed the gap to leaders Galatasaray to just three points.

Lovre Kalinic kept a clean sheet to help Hadjuk Split to a 1-0 away victory against Rijeka on Saturday.

The shutout was the Croatian stopper’s third of his loan spell, paving the way for Mehmet Umut Nayir to net the winner after 72 minutes.

In League Two, Tyreik Wright provided an assist as Walsall slipped to a 2-1 home defeat against Bradford City.

Dan Scarr headed home the winger’s corner after 77 minutes, but the Saddlers fell short in their comeback and remain in the bottom half of the table.

There was better fortune for Indiana Vassilev and promotion-chasing Cheltenham Town as they beat Scunthorpe United 2-0.

Vassilev made the fifth substitute appearance of his loan spell, joining the action after 65 minutes as Town stayed in the final automatic promotion place.

Dominic Revan made his eighth straight start for Weymouth as they drew 2-2 with King’s Lynn in the National League on Saturday.

The youngster saw his side take the lead twice before being pegged back as they remained two points adrift of safety.

Jack Clarke was an unused substitute in Chesterfield’s 2-0 loss to Stockport, while Callum Rowe was a late sub as Hereford beat Aldershot on penalties to progress to the FA Trophy semi-finals.

In Northern Ireland, Ben Guy played the full 90 minutes as Portadown lost 2-1 to Ballymena United in the Danske Bank Premiership.

Cameron Archer and Viljami Sinisalo didn’t feature for Solihull Moors and Ayr United respectively.
