Despite mixed results in Double Gameweek 26, Aston Villa assets remain high on the priority list for Fantasy Premier League managers.
Matches against Wolves and Newcastle in the next two Gameweeks certainly suggest more opportunities for attacking returns, the two clubs conceding a combined 17 goals across their last six matches.
And let’s not forget that Aston Villa hold a special place in the FPL community right now as they are one of just eight teams who play in Blank Gameweek 29.
Using your transfers to sign a Villa midfielder now could help you pull in some all-important points both before and during that curtailed round of action.

Anwar El Ghazi (£5.3m) was Villa’s top-scoring player in Double Gameweek 26 after bagging a goal, a clean sheet point and all three bonus points against Leeds.
As things stand, just 0.9% of FPL managers own the Dutch winger. However, El Ghazi’s last three outings have been very promising and in Double Gameweek 26 he was top among all Villa players for shots (seven), second for chances created (six) and top for crosses (20).
Bertrand Traore (£5.9m) impressed yet again in Double Gameweek 26 and was arguably unlucky not to come away with more than a five-point score. In fact, he finished the round top for expected goals (xG) across Villa players.

At the time of writing, John McGinn (£5.5m) sits inside the Premier League’s top 20 for the same statistic, suggesting he is coming closer to a second attacking return in three matches.
Another Gameweek, another clean sheet for Emiliano Martínez (£5.3m), his 13th of the campaign.
Adding three saves against Leeds, the Aston Villa goalkeeper took all three bonus for his sixth double-digit haul this season. Nick Pope (£5.6m) is the only Premier League shot-stopper to come close with his five double-figure hauls thus far and even he sits 18 points behind Martínez.
Martínez’s consistency of returns makes him the best FPL goalkeeper to own at the moment, especially with sure starts, clean sheets, saves, a Blank Gameweek fixture and an outstanding fixture to be rearranged into a future Double Gameweek.

Owned by 8.4% of FPL managers, Tyrone Mings (£5.4m) continues to go somewhat under the radar despite putting in another top performance across our Double Gameweek 26 matches.
Among his colleagues, the centre-back was top for clearances, blocks and interceptions (CBI) in Double Gameweek 26.
High returns in these areas increase the likelihood of a player registering bonus points in FPL, while Mings’ attacking potential from headers and set pieces always give him an edge too.
