Jack Grealish has revealed his delight at making England’s squad for the upcoming European Championships.
The Aston Villa skipper made the cut as Gareth Southgate trimmed his provisional 33-man squad down to 26 players for the tournament on Tuesday.
After years of watching his country at major tournaments on TV, the 25-year-old now has the chance to fulfil a lifelong ambition.

He said: “I’m over the moon. It wasn’t too long ago that I was just making my debut and now here I am in the squad.
“It’s what I’ve dreamt about, playing at major tournaments for England. I knew that I had the ability to do it because I’ve had a good season this year.
“I’ve always loved playing for England – no matter if I’ve come off the bench or I’ve started a friendly. To be able to be in the squad for a major tournament is something I’ve wanted to do my whole life.”
Grealish will be looking to add considerably to his five caps, with England hoping to reach the latter stages.

And the playmaker says the bond between the players will help enormously as they look to go one better than reaching the semi-finals of the last World Cup.
“You look around the squad and there is so much talent. It’s an absolute pleasure to be a part of,” Grealish said.
“The one thing I really liked when I came to England camp was the good vibe around the place. You have people that are rivals on a Saturday, but when they come here it’s like a group of friends.
“That’s credit to the manager. You look back to the World Cup in 2018 and the one thing that stood out to me, from the whole nation and the squad, was the togetherness.”
