Douglas Luiz’s Brazil secured their place in the Copa América 2021 semi-finals with a narrow 1-0 victory over Chile on Saturday morning.

The Aston Villa midfielder was an unused substitute for the quarter-final clash in Rio de Janeiro as the Seleção booked their spot in the final four on home soil.

Tournament hosts Brazil opened the scoring in the 46th minute thanks to Lucas Paqueta, who had only been introduced as a half-time substitute.

But they had to do it the hard way having seen Gabriel Jesus sent off just two minutes later, playing almost the entire second half with 10 men.

Brazil will now face Peru, a repeat of the 2019 final, in the semi-finals of the tournament on Tuesday (ko 12am) in Rio.
