Aston Villa travelled to Stoke City on Saturday for their second pre-season fixture of the summer as they stepped up their 2021/22 preparations.
First-team regulars and Academy youngters gained valuable minutes under their belt at the bet365 Stadium as Villa, backed by a 3,000-strong travelling support, used a total of 22 players.
The Villans fell to a 2-0 defeat courtesy of Steven Fletcher’s early looping header and Mario Vrancic’s long-range strike, before Wesley was sent off in the 67th minute following an incident with Nick Powell.
