Aston Villa came from behind twice to secure a vital point in a 2-2 draw against Reading on Saturday.

Mana Iwabuchi notched on her full debut, before Diana Silva poked home a late equaliser to give Gemma Davies' side a huge confidence boost.

Villa we be extremely pleased with the point after a tough run of games in recent weeks.

The result sees them pull further away from Bristol City who currently occupy the league's relegation zone.

For the first time this campaign, Gemma Davies opted for a switch in formation.

Having conceded seven at the hands of Manchester City last weekend, a back three of Elisha N'Dow, Nat Haigh and Anita Asante was selected from the start.

Iwabuchi made her first start in claret & blue, operating in the space behind a front pairing of Stine Larsen and Emma Follis.

Despite the changes, Villa's early-game woes continued.

Having played a short corner on the left, Jess Fishlock unleashed an effort from long-range which was parried into the direction of Angharad James.

James nodded home to give the visitors the lead inside three minutes.

Villa struggled to maintain possession in a chaotic first-half, but did go close through Larsen who saw two efforts blocked in a matter of seconds.

The home side came out of the break determined to take something from the encounter, and they were back on level terms within 10 minute of the restart.

Having been awarded a free-kick on the right-hand side of the penalty area, Nat Haigh of all people, stepped up to fizz the ball into a dangerous area.

The ball was begging to be put away, and it was Iwabuchi who prodded home on the stretch to get her new side back into the game.

Villa's luck seemed to be completely amiss, however, when Rachel Rowe responded almost instantly to edge Reading in front once more.

Despite going behind for a second time, Gemma Davies' side did not give up.

They started to mount some pressure on the Reading goal after bringing on Silva, Nadine Hanssen and Shania Hayles in the search for an equaliser.

The board for additional time had gone up seconds before Iwabuchi wriggled her way into the box from the left and squared for Silva to poke past the Reading 'keeper.

The scenes were jubilant, like a weight had been lifted.
