Douglas Luiz is guaranteed a medal at the Tokyo Olympics after Brazil beat Mexico on penalties to reach the final on Tuesday.
After a goalless 90 minutes, the Aston Villa midfielder was withdrawn late in the extra-time period as both sides toiled unsuccessfully for a breakthrough as the match headed to penalties.
Dani Alves, Gabriel Martinelli, Bruno Guimaraes and Reinier stepped up and scored as Mexico missed two spot kicks in the shoot-out, keeping Brazil's hopes of retaining their 2016 gold medal alive.
Luiz and his countrymen will face Spain in Saturday's final.
