Mascots have been notable absentees from professional football games around the world during the Covid-19 pandemic.

But at Villa Park on Sunday, the club rolled out our new ‘Virtual Mascot’ experience for young supporters to enjoy.

A bundle of Aston Villa goodies, a full 2020/21 home, away or goalkeeper kit, a video message from Jack Grealish and a letter from Dean Smith are among the many benefits that the Virtual Mascots received.

The young fans also saw their names and pictures posted on the club’s social media channels, as well as on the big screens at Villa Park.

The Virtual Mascots also got to see the players walking out of the tunnel ahead of the game via a Zoom call, with several Villa stars waving to the youngsters.

For the remaining home games this season, the Virtual Mascot places have been allocated to juniors that were scheduled to be mascots last season and to the Aston Villa Foundation.
