Dean Smith hailed the attitude of his Aston Villa players after they mounted a comeback to see off Fulham at Villa Park.
A tight game looked to be heading in the visitors’ favour after Aleksandar Mitrović made the most of an error from Tyrone Mings to score the opener.
But much to Smith’s delight, Trezeguet climbed off the bench to score twice before Ollie Watkins wrapped up the win.

Smith said: “There’s an awful lot of character in this dressing room. We have really good people as well as players within the squad.
“There’s a togetherness about us. We know it hasn’t been scintillating football over the last seven or eight games, but they certainly work hard enough to get results and big performances.
“I think some of them at the end of that game have played themselves into form again.”
The win was Villa’s first in four Premier League games, propelling them above Arsenal into ninth place.

Head coach Smith was pleased that the team had found a way to win against a side that were unbeaten in eight top-flight away games.
“There was a great response today. Ty ends up getting the assist for Trez and then Keinan comes on and gets another assist for Trez,” he said.
“They’re not a bad team. I don’t think that they should be in the position they’re in, but you have to play what’s in front of you.
“We probably negated each other at times. Two similar systems of plays – both trying to play through the thirds.
“I’m delighted with the result and the impact the substitutes made.”
