Dean Smith made three changes for Aston Villa’s derby clash against West Bromwich Albion while Wesley made his long-awaited return to the matchday squad.

Ahmed Elmohamady, Ross Barkley and Anwar El Ghazi were all named in Villa’s starting XI for the Premier League encounter (ko 7pm), with the latter having bagged four goals in the last five meetings against the Baggies.

Marvelous Nakamba and Jacob Ramsey were among the substitutes, while Matty Cash served a one-match suspension following his dismissal against Manchester City in midweek.

Wesley was also included on the bench at Villa Park as he took the next step on his road to recovery, making the club's matchday squad for the first time in 480 days since suffering knee ligament damage on New Year’s Day in 2020.
